Rare diseases can generally be defined as pathological conditions with low incidence and prevalence. According to the European definition of rare diseases, a disease is considered “rare” if it affects no more than 5 in 10 000 persons in the EU.
You can find in this section a library of descriptions of rare diseases. These descriptions are prepared by the ICRDOD medical consultants, which are leading rare diseases experts from the university hospitals across Bulgaria. This ICRDOD activity is being done thanks to voluntary and grant support from their side.
