EUCERD Recommendations on Centres of Expertise for Rare Diseases

The EU Committee of Experts on Rare Diseases has recently produced recommendations on the quality criteria for the centres of expertise for rare diseases in Europe. These recommendations are intended to help the EU Member States in their policy developments concerning national plans for rare diseases when addressing the issue of organisation of healthcare pathways at national and European level. The document covers the mission and scope of centres of expertise for rare diseases, the criteria for designation of such centres, the process for designation and evaluation, as well the European dimension of these institutions.
