PubMed, the Internet portal of biomedical and life sciences literature, indexed an interesting article, entitled “Splenogonadal fusion: Case report and review of published works.” (Proc (Int J Urol. 2006 Dec;13(12):1539-41). Authors are Ando S, Shimazui T, Hattori K, et al., from the University of Tsukuba, Graduate School of Comprehensive Human Sciences, Institute of Clinical Medicine, Department of Urology, Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan. Splenogonadal fusion is a rare congenital anomaly. The authors report herein a case of splenogonadal fusion associated with contra lateral testicular aplasia, and review the etiology, pathogenesis and management of this rare disease.
