PubMed, the Internet portal of biomedical and life sciences literature, indexed an interesting article, entitled “Acute pancreatitis following naproxen intake.” (Eur J Emerg Med. 2006 Dec;13(6):372). Authors are Aygencel G, Akbuga B and Keles A, from the Department of Emergency Medicine, Gazi University Faculty of Medicine, Ankara, Turkey. Pancreatitis is a very rare complication of a few nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. In this paper, the authors report a 20-year-old male as a case of acute pancreatitis following a suicidal attempt with naproxen sodium. They believe that, in this case, the pancreatitis was another example of a rare adverse reaction to the intake of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
