A new disease profile is added to our database – steatocystoma multiplex. Steatocystoma multiplex, Jamieson’s disease is an uncommon autosomal dominant disorder involving the pilosebaceous unit, with multiple small cysts. The latter are susceptible to suppuration and can open and drain onto the skin. For this reason, the presenting complaint can be misdiagnosed as scarring acne. In these cases the healing is by scarring. The cause of the disease is unknown. To receive a full description of this rare disease absolutely free of charge, please click here and send us a request. The profile was written by our consultant in surgery – Dr. Christo Shipkov, PhD.
