Hemophilia is a genetic condition associated with more difficult clotting of blood, which leads to unexpected blood losses when injured. Especially dangerous are the internal hemorrhages occurring at the joints which damage them or in the internal organs where they could be fatal.
People living with hemophilia feel restricted in their day-to-day activities and away from the society, because of their constant attention not to be traumatized. That is the reason for this World day slogan – “Lets create a community supporting people with hemophilia”.
The major issue for the patients in Bulgaria is the insufficient amount of supportive medication, lack of enough blood-clotting factor in the emergency units. There is also no planned operative treatment of the comorbidities.
