PubMed, the internet portal of biomedical and life sciences literature, indexed a new interesting article, entitled “Erythromelanosis follicularis faciei et colli: report of involvement in two female patients“ (Dermatol Online J. 2005 Aug 1;11(2):23). Authors of the article are Ertam I, Unal I and Alper S from the Department of Dermatolog, Ege University School of Medicine, Turkey. The authors report two female patients with typical localizations and clinical findings of this rare disease. Erythromelanosis follicularis faciei is characterized by reddish brown pigmentation and follicular papules localized on certain areas such as the face and neck. Bilateral distribution is usual, but it may occur unilaterally. Young men are usually affected, but young women or children may be also diagnosed. To access the abstract, click here.
