The journal Gene Therapy has published an article about Rare Disease Day. Rare Disease Day is a global awareness day celebrated on the last day of February each year, which in 2017 reaches its 10th edition. The Day aims to make the general public, stakeholders and decision-makers aware of these 6–8000 diseases, which are mostly inherited, affect 6% of the population and consume a disproportionate part of Health budgets.
